MemberIt's definitely grimdark. Essentially, without spoiling anything, it's about a race desperately fighting against the extinction of their race. You will cry. However, there are some weirdly sexy Sols lol. She's one of the early ones, but there's also a brother-sister one later with a hedonism theme that has naked solarians groping each other and two girls with super short shirt-skirts swaying their hips. The context kinda ruins it but still lol.
Regardless, aside from genuinely dumb enemy designs/mechanics like homing attacks and poor enemy movesets for some of them, I liked Nine Sols way better than Hollow Knight and it's currently my GOTY. metaphor will probably beat it, but not by much.

MemberYou're missing the game's context. She is a Sol, which are humanoid cat aliens (the game makes this very clear in an endgame secret achievement). However, they are incredibly advanced and developed a kind of super genetic mutation they call Transmutation that basically lets them change their body any way they want. She simply chose to splice her DNA with some avian DNA and choose the wing-arms and feet she has now.
