In ancient Mesopotamian religion, lilin were hostile night spirits that attacked men. In Jewish mythology, Lilin is also a term for night spirits but it was also believed that the Lilin where a class of demons that were the daughters and sons of Lilith. A common interpretation is that Lilith was the original wife of Adam and created from the same material used to create the very first human man. She was exiled from the Garden of Eden for refusing to become completely subservient to Adam, as oppose to Eve, who was created from Adam's Rib, making her an objectively inferior and submissive version of Adam. She would later cheat on her husband with the Archangel Samael, the fallen angel version of Lucifer/Satan. Since then, Lilith and by proxy her children have become symbols of wanton sexual deviancy and overindulgence, with the belief that the sounds in the wind at night are actually the voices of her children stalking or pouncing on their prey, to seduce and sexually devour.
