MemberI don't get it. Can someone explain?

MemberI imagine this is in the same vein as fuck penders given that a lot of Penders' work (which later got literally memory-holed in the Mega Man crossover) established Sonic's world as being called "Mobius" and its people "Mobians".

MemberOkay, but...while I agree, fuck Penders, that one wasn't on him. That was on SEGA of America. It was their bible from all the way back in '91 that called it Mobius and Sonic and creatures like him Mobians. It wasn't until later that they ditched that idea and had it be Earth. The whole Mobius thing isn't Penders' fault (for once), it's SEGA for not keeping things consistent between the US and JP branches.
Personally, I call them Mobians because I feel the need to call them something. They're clearly a separate thing from humans in their own world, don't have a taxonomic name of their own, and calling them "animal people" is stupid, "Sonic-style character" is too clunky, and "furries" makes them indistinguishable from any other anthro, despite Sonic-style characters being a pretty distinct and unique thing even in the furry community. Just calling them Mobians helps differentiate a character that looks like Rouge the Bat from a character that looks like Krystal. Unless SEGA wants to give them their own name, I'm gonna keep calling them that, just for clarity and brevity's sake.

MemberActually, it was a joke based off this image that a lot of people ended up taking way too seriously.

MemberI really don't think they need a specific name considering it's been like that for years and it's non-canon and just plain wrong considering it's always been just an alternate earth so the mobian name doesn't work at all.
