Maxim
I found an old comic in one of my many ring binders, and decided to re-draw one of the pages. Here's the (quickly drawn) result.
Maxim, or Max as he prefers to be called, is the younger brother of Ray. When Ray one day decided to leave their country for a better life, he begged his beloved brother to come with him, but Max didn't want to, because he had a best friend, Jack, and was in love with a girl called Alys. And he felt he needed to look after his mother whom he doubted could take care of herself.
Alys, Max's one big love, committed suicide not too long after Ray had left (it had nothing to do with Ray, though), so now Max is praying for his brother to come home and take Max and Jack with him to a better place.
