The quote above came from the GURPS 4E BioTech sourcebook, page 47, and inspired this work. One of the example species in the book are the Felicias, who are biological robot cat girls designed to serve as athletes, dancers, personal pilots, chauffeurs, bodyguards, bodyguard/courtesans, or super-soldiers. They're engineered with glands that give them bursts of incredible speed, but an unintended side-effect of this "overdrive" is that they afterwards suffer from severe gluttony and lust.
